How to Complete the Year 2018

As the last few days of 2018 are upon us…

It’s the perfect time to reflect on your journey through this year.

Too many people make the mistake of jumping ahead to the new year before energetically completing the current year.

Doing this can make things messy moving forward, and I don’t want that for you!

So, I want to share this quick yet powerful process to help you energetically complete the year 2018… and get ready for 2019.

Step 1 – Set Aside Sacred Time

The first step for completing 2018 and setting the tone for a great 2019 is to set aside time between now and the New Year ‘s Day for 30-60 minutes of quiet, sacred, reflective time.   When your days are full of busy-ness and over-activity, you miss out on the amazing gift of quiet time for you!  Mark your calendar now when you’ll do this.

Step 2 – Gather Your Tools

The next step is to gather the tools you’ll want with you for your reflection time.   I highly encourage you to gather a journal and your favorite pen… at a minimum.  You may also want to gather a few sacred objects like a crystal, rock, candle, statue, book, etc.  See which items calls to you and gather those, even if you have no idea exactly how you’ll use them.   If they’re calling to you, the reason will be revealed.

Step 3 – Honor Your Sacred Time

When the time has come for you to enjoy sacred, reflective time… honor it.  Do not do the dishes, organize your sock drawer, get on Facebook, check your email or look for recipes on Pinterest!   Give yourself the gift of time and space to be solely focused on you and the completion of 2018.

Step 4 – Reflect on These Questions

Once you are settled in your sacred space, let yourself enjoy at least 10 full, deep, relaxing and life-affirming breaths.   Feel your mind chatter slow down and your presence of the moment magnify.  Once you feel settles, ask yourself these questions and feel free to write whatever comes in your journal…
1) In hindsight, what do you feel the overall theme of 2018 was for you?
2) What were the greatest gifts you received in 2018?
3) What were the greatest challenges you faced in 2018?
4) What surprised you in 2018?   Pleasant or not-so-pleasant surprises are welcome here.
5) What do you want to leave behind in 2018?  What don’t you want to bring  into 2019?

Step 5 – Write a Thank You Letter

The next step after reflecting  on and journaling about the above questions in Step 4… it’s time to write a thank you letter to the year 2018.   In this letter thank the year for all it brought to you… the lessons learned, the joy experienced, the friendships forged, the things you released, the way your heart was broken open, the tears, the laughter, the peace.  All of it.  Also bid the year 2018 goodbye with gratitude and grace.  Write whatever you need to write to feel energetically complete with this year.

Step 6 – Write an Intention Letter

Now that you’ve closed the energy on the year 2019… it’s time to write a short powerful intention letter to the year 2019.   Looking ahead at this new year, what do you want to experience over the next 365 days?   How do you want to feel in 2019?  What higher-vibration thoughts do you want to magnify?   What do you want to release in 2019?   What do you want to manifest?   Who do you want to spend your time with?   How do you want to spend your time?    And include anything else that comes to mind.   Include at least five intentions in the letter, but no more than ten.  This will help keep the energy focused on the intentions that are most near and dear to your heart.

Step 7 – Complete Your Sacred Time

When you’re done writing your intention letter, trust that you’ll know the perfect way to complete your sacred time.   Perhaps you’ll hold your letters to your heart and say, “thank you.”  Maybe you’ll chant, dance, go for a walk, light a candle, put your letters in a special box, etc.   Trust yourself to know how best to complete this sacred time.

And as you wrap up this special time, know that the work you did was received in the expanse of your own soul, and the furthest corners of the Universe.   You have the power to create the reality you desire in 2019 and this process is the first step in doing exactly that.

May you squeeze every gift and lesson from the remaining hours of 2018 and use them to help make 2019 a year of abundance, beauty and blessings galore!

I look forward to hearing what you think of this process!   Will you do it?   If so, when?

Personally, I’ve invited a few friends over on New Year’s Day to do this process together… can’t wait!

Love,

Christine
